The short version
Vizra needs your location to work, because everything it does is about where you are relative to other riders and to the road. Your rides are private to you. Nothing is sold. The one thing shared beyond your own account — pooled road-safety data — is opt-in, asked for in plain language, and can be withdrawn, at which point what you already contributed is deleted.
What we collect
Location
Continuously while you are riding, including in the background with the screen off. A navigation and proximity-alert app that stops tracking when the screen locks does not work. Location draws your position, provides turn-by-turn directions, warns you about riders and hazards nearby, and records rides you choose to record.
Ride recordings
Distance, duration, speed and the path you took, for rides you record. Stored against your account and visible only to you. On your own phone you see the route exactly as you rode it; the copy stored on our servers, and anything you share from the app, has the start and end moved by up to about 300 m so a ride that begins and ends at your door does not say where your door is.
Your profile
The name you enter and your vehicle’s category, make, model, year and color. Sign-up asks for no email address, phone number, date of birth, or password. You can add an email address or Sign in with Apple later to keep your rides across phones; if you do, the address is held only to sign you back in.
Emergency contacts
Names, phone numbers and email addresses you choose to add. They stay on your device unless you switch on “Allow Vizra to contact this person for you” for a contact; that contact is then stored on Vizra’s server so an SOS or a missed check-in can email them without you. Switching it off deletes the server copy.
Medical card
Blood type, allergies, medications and notes for responders, if you choose to fill them in. Stored with your account. It goes nowhere unless you turn on “Send with my SOS” on the medical card screen, which starts off. With it on, the card goes to your consented emergency contacts as a second email, right after the alert email Vizra sends when you trigger an SOS or miss a check-in, and it is added to the text Vizra opens for you to send. Nobody else receives it.
Riding events
Moments of hard braking, hard acceleration and aggressive cornering, detected from your phone’s motion and location. These produce your safety score and coaching, both of which are yours alone unless you opt in to the shared safety map below.
What is shared, and with whom
Your position, with nearby riders
While the app is open, your first name, vehicle type, position, heading and speed are broadcast to riders within about 5 miles, so they can see you and be warned if your paths are converging. This is the core feature. Turn it off with Ghost Mode in Settings, which lets you keep seeing others without being seen. Riders in a pack you have joined always see you, because joining a pack is what consenting to that looks like.
Your location, during an SOS
If you trigger an SOS, your position is sent to your emergency contacts and shown to riders in a pack you have joined so they can reach you. Riders outside your pack do not see an SOS.
The shared safety map — opt-in
If, and only if, you agree, your braking, acceleration and cornering events are pooled with other riders’ to find places where many riders have trouble.
- Shared: the event’s location, direction, speed, force, and the weather at the time.
- Not shared: your name, your vehicle, your routes, or your rides.
- A location is never shown to anyone until at least three different riders have contributed events there, so no entry in the pool describes one person’s movements.
You are asked during sign-up, with nothing pre-selected. Declining costs you no features — your own safety score and coaching work either way. You can change your answer at any time under Settings → Data → Shared safety map. Turning it off deletes the events you have already contributed.
Service providers
- Mapbox — maps, search and turn-by-turn navigation. Receives location data in order to return directions and map tiles.
- Supabase — hosts the database and real-time presence. Stores your account, rides, and, if you opted in, your contributed events.
- Anthropic — used only to phrase your coaching feedback in natural language. It receives summary statistics, such as events per 100 miles in the wet versus dry, and never receives your location, your name, your routes or your rides.
Data is not sold, and is not shared with advertisers, insurers or employers.
Your account
Accounts are anonymous. The app signs you in with a randomly generated identifier rather than an email and password, so there is no login credential to lose and no address to be leaked.
Your control
- See it — your rides, statistics and safety score are in the app.
- Stop contributing — Ghost Mode for position, and the shared-safety-map toggle for pooled data.
- Delete it — turning off the shared safety map deletes your contributions. To delete your account and everything attached to it, email us.
This website
ridevizra.com uses no analytics, no advertising and no tracking cookies. If you join the launch list, your email address is used to tell you when Vizra launches, and for nothing else.
Children
Vizra is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or shared, you will be asked again rather than notified quietly.
